..”So in theory you should have failed english.”

5 Aug 2009

It’s a semi-rant, so if you’re not in the mood, don’t read hahaaa.

So, if any of you know Scotland or even live there. You should know that today (the 5th august) was a reaaaally important day for most higher academic pupils. Whether it was standard grade results, higher, advanced higher or even Higher National Degrees, we all found out the dreaded results that have been playing on our minds for months!

I sat my 4 highers and an intermediate 2 in may this year, and have been waiting for these results, for what seems a lifetime! So when I woke up this morning, there was my phone, buzzing like a bee high on drugs, or something similar. I looked down at it and noticed it said “SQA” (scottish qualification authority).  It was just then that I remembered that I had applied to get my results text and emailed to me, So you could imagine the horror on my face when I realised there was no escaping those rascal results!

It took me a while to open up the text, didn’t help that my mum was being impatient and wanted to know before she went out. So I went for it, and half of me wished I hadn’t, while the rest of me was slightly delighted.

I passed four of out five of those dreaded exams, which to most people in my family was absolutely spectacular! But in my eyes, I wasn’t pleased at all. I hadn’t passed maths like I wished I had, which isn’t at all good, because i’m taking advanced higher this year.

So how on earth do I do advanced higher, without managing higher? My friends say they can’t exactly stop me from taking it, but I’ll look light a right fool if I didn’t manage to even pass with a C. (Our levels are A,B,C with D as a ‘miss’ and F as Fail.) I really want to continue taking it as I enjoy maths, I can do the actual maths, I just don’t understand the stupid wording of the questions.

I was explaining this to my uncle and you know what he replied? “So in theory, you should have passed maths and failed english!” I have to agree with him, I actually thought I had failed english, and might have JUST passed maths.

But oh well, I still got a hundred quid, so I’m not complaining ;) I’m away into town now with Sophiieeee. So I’ll probably edit this post later.. Might tell you what I got up to today or something. Anyway, quick questions!

1) Would you be disappointed or impressed if you passed 4 out of 5 exams?
2) If you got 1 million pounds (dollars etc), what would you spend it on?
3) If you got 1 wish, what would it be?

Well congrats on the four that you passed! We all know that math can be pretty confusing, especially when the questions are written all wonky. =/

1) Would you be disappointed or impressed if you passed 4 out of 5 exams? Well, it sort of depends on what the exams were over, but I’d probably be alright with it.
2) If you got 1 million pounds (dollars etc), what would you spend it on? CLOTHES CLOTHES CLOTHES. and music.
3) If you got 1 wish, what would it be? for unlimited money =P i’m so materialistic and selfish, i know.

ahh results!
4/5 is good, I mean it’s not like you didn’t try your best or anything but math equations can be worded very weird and won’t make sense until you read it over and over a few times. I myself like math as well, and that’s what brought my mark down too, then after when we’d take up the work i’d pretty much kick myself in the head lol jk

1) Would you be disappointed or impressed if you passed 4 out of 5 exams?
it depends, impressed because I did well on the others, but disappointed at the same time, kind of, cause I could have done more to pass

2) If you got 1 million pounds (dollars etc), what would you spend it on?
hmm i’d buy myself a house, thats always needed haha, 1 nice car, cause who really needs 5 cars? lol, hmm go shopping and probably give some to my brothers/sisters and parents, i’d also travel as much of the world as i could with what ever is left

3) If you got 1 wish, what would it be?
to be successful in all that i do, school, job, life etc

Thank you :)

It’s when I use Wordpress’s widgets (like calendar etc) that the background doesn’t show. I’ll activate them to show you.

Congrats on the 4/5 that you did pass! Awwwe it sucks that you didn’t pass the maths one, but at least you have a good reason for it. Bad wording! Science (I think it’s science) and Maths questions always need to be read over 5 times before you can fully understand them. And even after those 5 times you can still misread them. It is annoying.

1) Would you be disappointed or impressed if you passed 4 out of 5 exams? I would be alright with it. I would expect to pass all of them. That’s what would impress me. If I passed them all.
2) If you got 1 million pounds (dollars etc), what would you spend it on? A new house, new instruments, a new computer and software, new clothes, a new cellphone, a better ipod, lots more of course (:
3) If you got 1 wish, what would it be? Have a perfect body. haha. I know that makes me sound… idk.. weird. But I would love that (:

Just so you know, the “5 comments” link did not work for, I had to click on the post title to get here. ;) Sorry.

Anyway, you did do well, I know not as well as you wanted to, but “you win some, you lose some”. I an see how taking an advanced class when you failed the math test being an issue though. Although, maybe it will teach you something you never thought you’d be ready to learn. ;)

Anyway, good luck to you. Just a random visitor dropping by. ;P

I hate it when you think you passed something but you didn’t xP At least you passed 4 out of 5. That is actually really good. I think you’ll be fine in the advanced math class. It was just one test. :D

1) Would you be disappointed or impressed if you passed 4 out of 5 exams?
A little of both. I TRY to look at the bright side in such situations but usually fail. xP But on the bright side you passed more than half of the exams, so I’d be mainly impressed but fail… to fail is would make me sad.

2) If you got 1 million pounds (dollars etc), what would you spend it on?
I’d put some in a bank, give some to my parents, go on a shopping spree, donate some to charity, pay for my school tuition, and … I think that’s it. ^^ Whatever I think I should spend it on at the moment. But definitely donating some to a charity and putting some in the bank.

3) If you got 1 wish, what would it be?
Hmm, for happiness. (:
